Mayor and City Council
FROM:
City staff
RECOMMENDATION TO AWARD BID TO PROVIDE COMPLETE
LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE AT ELEVEN (11) DESIGNATED
CULTURAL AND RECREATION SERVICES SITES, BID #2305
SUBJECT:
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to provide complete landscape
maintenance at eleven (11) designated Cultural and Recreation
Services sites for the Parks Division, at a specified monthly
rate, including two one-year renewal options.
BACKGROUND
The City Council during budget workshops in June, 1990, directed
staff to develop a plan to improve maintenance of the beaches and
Palisades Park. Staff determined that subcontracting maintenance
at nearly a dozen small, isolated park sites throughout the City
would free up existing Parks crews to improve and upgrade
maintenance of Palisades Park, the beaches and other large
recreational areas.
The deployment of city Parks crews and
maintenance equipment at isolated and widely dispersed park
locations has been an inefficient use of division resources given
the time consuming task of moving crews and equipment from site
to site.
