SUBJECT: Recommendation to Reject Bid to Furnish and Deliver
Bushings, Connectors, Cap services, Clamps and
Miscellaneous Electrical Supplies, Bid #2225
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns rejection of bid to furnish and deliver
bushings, connectors, cap services, clamps and miscellaneous
electrical supplies at specified unit prices, plus applicable
sales tax.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published May 10
and 11, 1989) to furnish and deliver bushings, connectors, cap
services, clamps and miscellaneous electrical supplies in
accordance with City specifications, bids were received and
publicly opened and read on June I, 1989. Proposal forms were
mailed to twenty-two vendors and notices were advertised in
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two
proposals were received as follows:
Cost of a representative array of electrical supplies:
Graybar Electric $54,968.08
Crown Wholesale Electric $75,426.12

The City bid specifications requested firm prices from July 1,
1989, through June 30, 1990. Crown Wholesale Electric bid as
specified and Graybar Electric only held prices for six months.
Staff wishes to revise the specifications and rebid the
requirement.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that Bid #2225 from Graybar Electric and Crown
Wholesale Electric be rejected and staff be directed to rebid the
requirement as specified.
