Introduction
This report concerns the procurement of Mobile Communications
Equipment in the total amount of $17,553.17 including applicable
sales tax Funds for this purchase have been budgeted-in account
number 01-300-301-000-950
Background
This ReA Radio Equip~ent consist of componenetq t~at must be inte-
grated into and added to existing Police equipment. ~xa~le: Motorola
equipment is not interchangeable with ~CA equipM~nt necause o~ diff-
erences in configuration, size, wiring, brackets, connections etc
Each brand needs its O~~ perioheral components suc~ as test panels,
decoders, microphones, battery charger, etc

It is reco~ended that t~e ~ouncil adopt th~ resolution to waive
the bid proce0ure in this instance and autDorize the City Manager
to execute a "sole source" nrocurement ta R. C A. 'labile Com-
TIunication Co. for the ~Communication EQuiuTIent.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA WAIVING FURTHER FO~~L BID
PROCEDURE AND AUTHORIZING DIRECT NEGOTIATION
FOR PURCHASE OF MOBILE CO~~ruNICATION EQUIPt1ENT
\VHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica Police Depart~ent has a
requirement for ~obile Communication Equipment
~~EREAS, only one (1) source, R,C.A. Mobile Communications
can supply the equipment to satisfy the City's requirement
1VHEREAS, to the best of Staffls knowledge only one company can
supply the equipment capable of being integrated into the City's
existing R,C.A. System.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council finds that the requirement

exists to purchase the Mobile Communications Equipment
SECTION 2. That further bid solicitation would cause unnecessary
expense and delay.
SECTION 3. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to
excute a purchase agreement for the equipment.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resoluiton, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in
full force and effect.
