For n~e Civic Auditorium.
Introduction
This report concerns waiving of bid for purchase of r~sers for
the Civic Auditorium in the amount of S6,076.98. Funds for
this purchase have been available in account number 32-400-621-000-
950.
Background
In 1958 the City of Santa Honica purchased a complete I1riser"
set from the Mitchell Co. for use as special seating equipment
at the Civic Auditorium. It now becomes necessary because of
time and use, to replace twenty-four of these risers and they must
have identical hardware and configuration as the existing system.
In order to insure complete compatibility, only the equipment
manufactured by the ~itchell Company will fill these requirements.
Research by staff has determined the Bernstein Co. in Culver
City to be the only local distributor thereby necessitating a
sole source procurement
Reconnnendation
It is recommended that the City Council adopt a resolution waiving
formal bidding procedures and the City Manager be authorized to execute
a purchase agreement with the Bernstein Company in the total
amount of $6,076.98

SUBJECT: Riser replacement. "
In 1958 the City of Santa Monica purchased a complete riser
set from the "Mitchell Co. " . These risers are used regularly
for special seat~ng set-ups such as boxing, Stairway of the Stars,
etc. It has become necessary to replace 24 of these risers
due to damage and loss over the years and it is mandatory that
the replacement r1sers be compat~ble with the existing set.
In order to insure the compatibllity they must be ordered from
the "MitchellCo." through the "Bernstein Company" the local
supplier of "Mitchell Folding Risers".

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA WAIVING FURTHER FOro'~L BID PRO-
CEDURE AND AUTHORIZING DIRECT NEGOTIATION FOR
PURCHASE OF RISERS
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica Civic Auditorium has
a requirement for risers from special seating arrangements.
t.JHE REAS , these risers must be compatable with the Auditoriums J
existing equipment.
HHEREAS , to the best of staff's knowledge, only one Companv
can supply these risers.
NOH THEREFORE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council finds that the requirement
exists to purchase the Risers.
SECTION 2. That further bid solicitation would cause
unnecessary expense and delay.
SECTION 3. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to
excute a purchase agreement for the equipment.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall .
be in full force and effect.
