SUBJECT: Disposal of Surplus and Obsolete Equipment
Introduction
This report concerns the disposal of surplus and obsolete
equipment stored at the City Yards
BackR;round
Surplus and obsolete equipment consisting cars, trucks,
truck parts, packers, desks, chairs, office machines and
equipment are presently stored at the City yard awaiting
disposal.
Staff research has determined the most profitable and
efficient manner to dispose of this surplus equipment is to
engage the services of a professional auctioneer who will
conduct an "On-site Public Auction" at the City yards on an
"as-is" basis.
Reconnnendation
It is recommended Formal Bid procedures be waived and the
City Manager be authorized to negotiate an agreement with
Ron Patterson, Auctioneer to conduct a Public Auction to
dispose of City's surplus and obsolete equipment.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA HONICA HAlVING FOR!,fAL BID PROCEDUP.,E
AND AUTHORIZING DIRECT NEGOTIATION FOR PUBLIC
AUCTION OF SURPLUS MATERIALS AND EQUIPHENT
HHEREAS , the City of Santa ~onica has a requirement for
Disposal of Surplus Materials and Equipment.
~rnEREAS. a Pub lie Auction on a "where is", "as is" basis,
would best fullfill the City's requirements.
WHEREAS, City Staff is of the opinion that only a Professional
Auctioneer has the necessary exoertise to conduct a Public Auction.
NOW THEREFORE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council finds that the requirement
exists to Dispose of Surplus Materials and Equipment.
SECTION 2. That further bid solicitation would cause un-
necessary expense and delay.
SECTION 3. That the City Manager is hereby aut~orized to
negotiate an agreement with a Professional Auctioneer to conduct
an "on site" auction for the City.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
