SUBJECT: Recoooendat1on to Waive Fornal Bid Procedures for
Maintenance of Data Processing Equipnent.
Introduction
This report concerns award for Maintenance of Data Processing
Equipment. Funds for th1S purchase have been budgeted in account

numher 01-100-223-000-312.
Background
The Data Processing Departnent has a requirement for ~aintenance of
its Hewlett-Packard Computer and Software. Hewlett-Packard
is the manufacturer of this equipment and the only vendor
qualified to maintain 1t thereby qualifying this as a sole source
procurement under section 25C6-A of the Santa Monica 11unicipa1
Code.
Reconnendation
It is recommended that the attached resolution be approved authorizing
City Manager to execute a sole source purchase agreement for this
tiaintenance service as the best bidder.

WHEREAS. the City of Santa Monica Data Processing Departnent
has a requirement for Equipnent ~aintenance Service.
~mEP~AS, only one (1) Source, Hewlett Packard can fulfil th~s
requirement.
NO\.J' THEREFORE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA HONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS,
SECTION 1. That the City Council finds that the requriement
exists to procure the Maintenance Service.
SECTION 2. That to advertise for bids would be to no avail and
would cause unnecessary expense and delay.
SECTION 3. That the C~ty Xanager is hereby authorized to
execute a purchase agreement for thls service.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
os this resolution. and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
