SUBJECT: Recommendation to lJaive Fornal Bidding Procedure for
Procurement of One Ne\v Three-Hheeled l1otorcycle for
Police Service.
Introduction
This report seeks approval by the City Council of the waiver of
formal bidding procedure for the purchase of one new three-
wheeled motorcycle to City specifications. The estioated cost
of the proposed vehicle is $3,500.00 including applicable taxes.
Budgeted in account # 01-300-301-000-804.
Background
Police motorcycles of the three wheeled variety have become a
rare item. As a result, there 1S only one knO\ffi manufacturer of
three-wheeled motorcycles which meet Santa ~lonica Police Department
specifications. Since there is only one source for the procure~ent
of this iteIil, formal bidding process would be of no avail and
would cause unnecessary expense and delay.
RecoImi1endation
It is recoTIQended that the City Council waive fo~al bidding procedure
for this need by adopting the attached resolution which authorizes
the City tlanager to execute a negotiated contract for the
purchase of one three-wheeled police motorcycle on the open
market.

SECTION 1. The City Council hereby resolves to waive femel
bidding process for the procurement of one new three-wheeled
motorcycle.
SECTIO~~ 2. T~e City Manager is hereby authorized to execute
a negotlated contract on tne open IT.arket for the procurement of the
three-wheeled notorcycle.
SECTIO!:\ 3. The City Clerk shall certify to t~e adoptlon of
this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
~n full force and effect.
