SUBJECT. Recommendation To Waive Formal Bld Procedures for
the Sole Source Procurement of a Three Bin Trailer
from Midway Fishing Tool Company
Introduction
This report concerns procurement of a three bin trailer to be used
in the City's recycling program in the total amount of $6,352.01
including appllcable sales tax. Funds for this purchase have been
budgeted in account number 27-500-443-000-803.
Background
The City has a requirement for a trailer to be used in its
recycling program to transport three refuse bins containing
recyclable materials. Research by staff has determined this to
be a proprietary product of the Midway Fishing Tool Co , thereby
qualifying it as a sole source procurement under section 2506-A of
the Santa Monica Municipal Code.
Recommendation
It 18 recommended that City Council adopt the attached resolution
waiving formal bid procedure and authorizing the City Manager to
execute a sole source purchase agreement with the Midway Fishing
Tool Co., in the total amount of $6,352 01 including tax.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA WAIVING FURTHER FORMAL BID PRO-
CEDURE AND AUTHORIZING DIRECT NEGOTIATION FOR
PURCHASE OF A THREE BIN TRAILER
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica has a requirement
for a three bin trailer;and
WHEREAS, to the best of Staff's knowledge only one
company can supply this equipment necessary for the recycling
program; and
NO\.. THEREFORE> THE CITY COUl\lCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council finds that the requirement
exists to purchase the three bin trailer.
SECTION 2. This is a Proprietary or Sole Source procurement
under Section 2506A of the Santa Monica Mun~cipal Code.
SECTION 3. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to
execute a purchase agreement for the equipment.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
