SUBJECT: A Recommendation to Adopt a Resolution Revising the
Authorized Use of the civic AUditorium Box Office
Trust Account.
Introduction
This report recommends that City council adopt the
attached resolution revising the authorized use of the civic
Auditorium Box Office Trust Fund.
Background
In March of 1972, the city council established an
Auditorium Box Office Trust Fund to help facilitate the
efficient operation of the Civic Auditorium by allowing a
timely settlement with Auditorium Permittees whose box office
proceeds are deposited into this account. This resolution
named the Director of the civic Auditorium as the person
authorized to make deposits and/or withdrawals from that
account.
The name of the City Manager was later added and
City staff is also recommending that the name of the city
Treasurer be added to those authorized to make deposits and
withdrawals from this account. As the names of the authorized

personnel have changed and the position of Director of the
Civic Auditorium has been replaced by the position of civic
Auditorium Manager. Staff recommends City Council adoption of
a revised resolution which will authorize use of the Trust
Fund by all encumbents of the positions outlined above.
Since the establishment of the Auditorium Box Office
Trust Account with United California Bank in March of 1972,
the name of the bank has been changed to First Interstate Bank
and the proposed resolution reflects this name change.

Recommendation
City Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the
attached resolution revising authorized use of the civic

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE ESTABLISHMENT AND USE
BY THE CIVIC AUDITORIUM OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
OF A CHECKING ACCOUNT IN THE NAME OF AUDITORIUM BOX
OFFICE TRUST ACCOUNT WITH FIRST INTERSTATE BANK
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
That the Civic Auditorium of the city of Santa
Monica is hereby authorized to establish an account in the name
of IIAuditorium Box Office Trust Account" with First Interstate
Bank upon such terms and conditions as are provided by the
statutes of the State of California governing public deposits.
SECTION
2.
That the Civic Auditorium Manager, City
Treasurer, and city Manager are hereby authorized to deposit
funds in said account, and to withdraw funds from said account
upon warrants and/or checks signed by any encumbent of said
positions with signature duly certified to said bank by the city
of Santa Monica, and said bank hereby is authorized to honor and
pay such warrants and/or checks so signed.
SECTION 3 .
Resolution Numbers 4243 (CCS), 4564 (CCS), and
5308(CCS) are repealed.

SECTION 4. The city Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
