ThlS report recommends that the City Council approprlate funds to install a
perimeter fence around portlons of the approximately 50 acres of City land
between the runway and the Barclay-Curci Industrial Park and to remove weeds
and debris for grading on this property.
Background
The development of the vacant City property north of the airport has been
delayed and is currently the site at which a nu~ber of contractors and others
in Santa Monica are using for dumplng concrete, asphalt, excess dlrt, and
waste bU1lding materials. The staff be11eves it is necessary to remove the
debris, dirt, and weeds, and to fence the property to prevent additlonal
materials from being dumped at this locatlon. It is nearly imposslble to
prevent unauthorized dumping unless one or more full-tlMe guards were to be
stationed at the slte unless the site 1S fenced. It is also imposslble to
determine who has dumped the materials, and therefore, almost lmposslble to
require those persons to remove It.
Estimated costs for this work are as follows:

Recommendatlon
