SR-416-002 (5) . ct ;'6~t)o"L . 1113 MAY 2 3 '978 Santa Monica, California May 17, 1978 To: Mayor and Clty Council From: Clty Staff Subject: Approval of Demolition and Grading on City Owned land at Airport Industrial Park Introduction This report recommends that the City Council appropriate $24,000 for certain demolltion and grading work to facilitate the development of portions of the City owned land at the airport industrial park. Background On February 29, 1978, the City Councll approprlated $57,000 to construct streets and utilities to serve the three City owned lots which are to be traded to the Barclay-Curci Corporation for Lot One in the Barclay-Curci subdivislon so that Lot One can be used for Clover Park. The three City owned parcels which are to be traded, as well as other portions of the City owned land which 15 yet to be developed~ have a conslderable amount of concrete pavement from an old runway. and building slabs which were left in place when the McDonnell-Douglas Buildings were demolished. This concrete must be removed to facilitate the development of these parcels of land. The Staff and Barclay-Curcl have developed a plan whereby this concrete can be removed and recycled for use as required base material for the new streets. The developer will contract and pay for processing of all concrete on their property including exchange parcel Lot One and will purchase all of the processed material. The cost to Barclay Curci will be approxlmately $4l~OOO. The City wlll pay for the processing of the material from the three lots to MAl l H;78 . . ~ To. Mayor and City Council -2- May 17, 1978 be exchanged at a lump sum cost to the City of $24,000. Barclay-Curci will engage the contractor for all of the work and the City will relmburse Barclay-Curci the lump sum amount of $24!OOO. Recommendation It lS the Staff recommendation that the City Council appropriate $24,000 from Airport Depreciation Fund to pay for the City's portion of the cost of site preparation for the three exchange parcels and areas where 28th Street and 31st Place are to be built.
