Background On May 27, 1980, the City Council adopted an ordinance to enable the establishment of parking zones for the physically handicapped. Under this ordinance a physically handicapped zone may be established by resolution of the City Council upon request by any individual and analysis and recommendation by the city Parking and Traffic Engineer. Staff has received a request from a resident for a physically handicapped zone adjacent to 2725 6th Street between Hill Street and Raymond Avenue. staff has reviewed the request and finds that the zone meets all the appropriate requirements. ~~dget/Financial Impact There is no budget or financial impact resulting from this request. , b-E - 1 - tM't 1 0 198& e . RESOL~TION NO. 7613(CCS) (CITY COVNCIL SE~IES) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COL~CIL OF THE CITY OF S~~TA MONICA ESTABLISHING A PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED ZONE ADJACENT TO 2725 6th STREET. WHEP~AS, the City Council of the City of Santa Monica has enacted an ordinance enabl~ng individuals to request parking zones for physically handicapped persons; and h~EREAS, the City has received a request for a phys~cally handicapped zone; and WF~REAS} the Park~ng and Traffic Engineer has co~side~ed the request and concluded} based upon the factors stated in Municipal Code Section 3366A, that an additional physically handicapped zone may be installed at the requested location, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY C01JNCIL OF THE CITY OF SJ...NTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. A physically handicapped zone is hereby established on the east side of 6th Street adjacent to 2725 6th Street. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolu~~on, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and e=fect.
