MEMORANDUM

SUBJECT: Proposed Text Amendment, no demolition of existing
structures without approval of new development.
In adoptingResolution No. 6385 the City Council included
the Task Force recommendations that no de~olltion of eXlsting
structures in the Commercial and Industrial Districts be
permitted untl1 approval had been granted for a replacement
structure. Inasnuch as thls recommendation would be
applicable to each of the Commercial and Industrial districts
it recommended that a new general sectlon be added to the
Zoning Ordinance as follows:
Section 9126A. Removals. Other sectlons of this Chapter
notwithstanding no demolition permit for any structure or
building in any commerclal or industrial dlstrict shall be
issued until a valid building permit has been issued for a
new development to occupy the same general site except that
a demolit1on permit ~ay be issued where the Building Officer
deterwines that an existing structure consitutes a clear
and present danger to the public health, safety or welfare.
RECO~~1ENDATION. It is respectfully recomMended that the
COBMlssion set the proposed amendment for Public Hearing
and consideratlon at the regular ~eeting of January 4, 1982.
