Ordinance Adding section 3238g to the santa
Monica Municipal Code Establishing Preferential
Parking Zone G
SUBJECT:
At its meeting on February 25, 1986, the City council
introduced for first reading an ordinance adding section 3238g to
the Santa Monica Municipal Code establishing Preferential Parking
Zone G for 15th street from Montana Avenue to Alta Avenue. The
ordinance is now presented to the city Council for adoption.
RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the accompanying
ordinance be adopted.

AN ORDINANCE OF ~HE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA ADDING SEC~ION 3238G
TO THE SANTA MONICA MUNICIPAL CODE TO
ESTABLISH PREFERENTIAL PARKING ZONE G
HHEREAS, the Parking and Traffic Engineer has received a
petition requesting establishment of a preferential parking zone
for 15th street from Montana Avenue to Alta Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the petition has been verified to be signed by
residents living in two-thirds of the dwelling units compris~ng
not less than 50 percent of the developed frontage of the
proposed preferential parking zone; and
HHEREAS, the Parking and Traffic Eng~neer has undertaken
such studies and surveys deemed necessary to determine whether a
preferential parking zone should be designated in the area; and
WHEREAS r the City Council is sat~sfled that the proposed
area meets the designat~on criteria set forth in Municipal Code
section 3232A,
NOH / THEREFORE r THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1.
Sect10n 3238g is added to the Santa Monica
Municipal Code to read as follows:

Preferential
parkinq Zone G.
(a)
The following
named and
described street within the city shall
constitute Preferent1al Parking Zone G:
l5th Street from Montana Avenue to Al ta
Avenue.
(b) No vehicle shall be parked or
stopped
adJacent
to
any
curb
in
?referential Parking Zone G for more than
two hours between the hours of 9:00 a.m.
and 6:00 p.m. without a permit issued and
displayed

SECTION 2. Any provision of the Santa l10nica Municipal
Code or appendices thereto inconsistent with the provlsions of
this ordinance, to the extent of such inconsistencies and no
further, are hereby repealed or modified to that extent necessary
to affect the provisions of this ordinance.
SECTION 3.
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause,
or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalld
or unconstitutional by a decision of any court of any competent
jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the valld~ty of the
remaining portions of the ordinance.
'Ihe c~ ty Counc~l hereby
declares that it would have passed this ordina:lce and each arid
every section, subsect~on, sentence, clause, or phrase not
declared invalid or unconstitutional without regard to whether
any portion of the ordinance would be subsequently declare
invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 4.
The Mayor shall s~gn and the city Clerk shall
attest to the passage of this ordinance.
The Cl ty Clerk shall
cause the same to be published once ln the official nerllspaper
within 15 days after lts adoption. The ord~nance shall become
effective after 30 days from its adoptlon.
