Establishment of Parking Zone for the Physically
Handicapped
SUbject:
Introduction
This report recommends that the City Council approve the attached
resolution to establish a parking zone for the physically
handicapped at the requested location.
Background
On May 27, 1980, the city Council adopted an ordinance to enable
the establishment
of
parking
zones
for
the physically
handicapped. Under this ordinance a physically handicapped zone
may be established by resolution of the City council upon request
by any individual and analysis and recommendation by the City
Parking and Traffic Engineer.
staff has received a request from a resident for a physically
handicapped zone in front of his home at 2225 26th street between
pico Boulevard and Pearl street. Staff has reviewed the request
and finds that the zone meets all the appropriate requirements.
BUdget/Financial Impact
There is no budget or financial impact resulting from this
request.

Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached

RESOLUTION NO. 7624(CCS)
(CITY COUNCIL SERIES)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
ESTABLISHING A PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED ZONE
ADJACENT TO 2225 26th STREET.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Monica has
enacted an ordinance enabling individuals to request parking
zones for physically handicapped persons; and
WHEREAS, the City has received a request for a physically
handicapped zone; and

WHEREAS, the Parking and Traffic Engineer has considered
the request and concluded, based upon the factors stated in
Mur.icipal Code Section 3366A, that an add1tional physically
handicapped zone may be installed at the requested location,
NOH, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
A physically handicapped zone is hereby
established on the east side of 26th Street adjacent to 2225 26th
Street.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of thlS Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect.
