Resolution Establishing Parking Zones for
the Physically Handicapped
INTRODUCTION
This report recommends that the City Council approve the attached
resolutions to establish two parking zones for the physically
handicapped at the requested locations.
BACKGROUND
On May 27, 1980, the city Council adopted an ordinance to enable
the
establishment
of
parking
zones
for
the
physically
handicapped. Under this ordinance such a zone may be established
by a resolution of the City Council upon request by any
individual and verification by the city Parking and Traffic
Engineer.
staff has received two requests for the installation of
physically handicapped zones:
1) a resident is requesting installation of a parking zone
for the physically handicapped adjacent to 1626 Franklin
street,
2) Santa Monice College is requesting installation of a parking
zone for the physically handicapped adjacent to one of their
instruction classrooms on the north side of Pearl street east
of 16th street.

staff has reviewed the requests and finds that the zones meet all
the appropriate requirements.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT
There is no budget/fiscal impact resulting from this request.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the city council adopt the attached
resolutions establishing two physically handicapped
zones
adjacent to:
1) 1626 Franklin Street,
2) north side of Pearl street east of 16th street

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA ESTABLISHING A
PARKING ZONE FOR THE PHYSICALLY
HANDICAPPED ON THE NORTH SIDE OF PEARL
STREET EAST OF 16TH STREET
WHEREAS, the City Council of the Clty of Santa
Monica has enacted an ordlnance enabling lndividuals to request
parking zones for physically handicapped person; and
WHEREAS, the city has received a request for a
parklng zone for the physically handicapped; and
WHEREAS, the Parking and Trafflc Englneer has
consldered the request and concluded, based upon the factors
stated in Munlcipal Code Section 3366A, that an additional zone
for the physically handicapped may be installed at the requested
location,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. A zone for the physically handlcapped 15
hereby established on the north side of Pearl Street east of 16th
Street.
SECTION 2.
The city Clerk shall certlfy to the
adoptlon of this Resolutlon, and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be In full force and effect.
