Zone A
At lts meet1ng on January 17, 1984, the Clty Council
introduced for flrst readlng an ordinance adding Section 3238a to
the Santa Hon1ca Mun1c1pal Code to establish a preferentlal
parklng zone on V1cente Terrance. The ordlnance is now presented
to the City Council for adoption.
RECOMl'1ENDATION
It 15 respectfully recomnended that the accompanying
ordinance be adopted.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA ADDING SECTION 3238a
TO THE SANTA MONICA MUNICIPAL CODE TO
ESTABLISH PREFERENTIAL PARKING ZONE A
WHEREAS, the Parking and Traffic Engineer has received a
petition requesting establishment of a preferential parking zone
on Vicente Terrace: and

WHEREAS; the petition has been verified to be signed by
residents living in two-thirds of the dwelling units comprising
not less than 50 percent of the developed frontage of the
proposed preferential parking zone; and
WHEREAS, the Park1ng and Traffic Eng1neer has undertaken
such stud1es and surveys deemed necessary to determine Whether a
preferent1al parking zone should be designated in the area: and
l-vHEREAS; the City CounC11 15 sa t~5fied that the proposed
area meets the designat10n cr1 teria set forth in Municipal Code
Section 3232A,
ROW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA OOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
Section 323Ba is added to the Santa Monica
Municipal Code to read as follows:

Section 3238a.
Preferential
Parkin9 Zone A.
(a) The followino named and
described street w1thin the City shall
constitute Preferential Parking Zone A:
vicente Terrace.
(b) No vehicle shall be parked or
stopped adjacent to any curb in
Preferential Parking Zone A during the
hours of 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. without a
perrn1t issued and displayed in accordance
with thl.s Chapter. Any vehicle parked or
stopped without a permit may be removed
from the street by any police officer.
(c) The annual fee for each perm1t
issued for Preferentia 1 Parking Zone A
shall be $15.00 per permit or such other
fee as may be established from time to
tine by resolution of the Cl.ty Council.
SECTION 2. Any prov1sion of the Santa Monica Munlcipal
Code or appendices thereto l.nconsistent with the provisions of
tIds ordinance, to the extent of such inconsistencies and no
further, are hereby repealed or mod1f1ed to that extent necessary
to affect the provisions of thl.S ordinance.
SECTION 3. If any section, subsection8 sentence, clause,
or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid
or unconstitutional by a decision of any court of any competent

jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remaining port~ons of the ordinance.
The City council hereby
declares that 1.t \lIQuId have passed th1.s ordinance and each and
every sect~on, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase not
declared lnvalid or unconstitutional without regard to whether
any portion of the ordinance would be subsequently declared
lnvalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 4.
The Mayor shall s1.gn and the City Clerk shall
attest to the passage of this ordinance.
The City Clerk shall
cause the same to be published once in the official newspaper
within 15 days after its adoption.
The ordinance shall become
effective after 30 days from its adoption.
