Back~round
On May 27, 1980 (Item 6C) the Ci ty Council adopted an
ordInance to enable the establishment of parking zones for
phYSIcally
handicapped.
Under thIS ordInance a phYSIcally
handicapped zone may be establIshed by resolutIon of the CIty
CouncIl upon request by any IndIVidual and consIderatIon by the
CIty Parking and TraffIc Engineer.
Staff
has receIved
requests from two reSIdents for a
phYSIcally handIcapped zones adjacent to 2208 CalIfornIa Avenue,
and adjacent to 1622 Berkeley Street.
Staff has revIewed the
requests and fInd that the zones meets all the approprIate
requlrements.

RESOLUTION NO. 6897(CCS)
(CITY COUNCIL SERIES)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA ESTABLISHING A
PHYSICALLY HANDICAP ZONE ADJACENT
TO 1622 BERKELEY STREET
WHEREAS, the City Council of Santa Monica has enacted
an ordlnance enabling individuals to request parking zones for
physically handicapped persons; and.
WHEREAS,
the City has received a request for a
phYSlcally handlcap zone; and
WHEREAS, the City Parking and Traffic Engineer has
consldered the request and concluded, based upon the factors
stated in the ordinance, that a physically handicap zone may be
installed at the requested location,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
A
Physically handicap zone is hereby
establlshed on the west side of Berkeley Street adjacent to 1622
Berkeley Street.
SECTION 2.
The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoptlon of thlS Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be In full force and effect.
