INTRODUCTION
ThlS report recommends City Council adopt a resolut1on
establ1sh1ng two on-street physlcally disabled park1ng spaces.
BACKGROUND
The Clty has recelved two requests for the installat10n of
on-street
P hy sic all y
d1sabled parking zones. Santa Monlca
Hospital has requested a zone be lnstalled adjacent to the Les
Kelley Clin1C located on the eastside of 15th Street north of
Arizona Avenue. ThlS wlll requ1re the removal of one metered
parklng space. The Arch1tectual Revlew Board has requested Staff
to install a zone near the northwest corner of Hill Street and
Thlrd Street adjacent to Ocean Park Commun1ty Center.
Staff has reV1ewed the two requests and determ1ned that they
meet the requlrements for Physlcally D1sabled Park1ng Zone. Staff
proposes the zone adjacent to the Ocean Park Communlty Center be
1n effect between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. t weekdayst because of
the hlgh demand for parklng 1n the area.

BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT
The only flscal lmpact 1S the loss of revenue due to the
removal of one (1) parking meter adJacent to the Les Kelley
Cllnlc. This lS approxlmately $300.00 per year. There is money
ln the budget thlS flscal year to install the zones.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA ESTABLISHING ON-STREET PHYSICALLY
DISABLED PARKING SPACES ON: 1) EASTSIDE OF 15TH
STREET NORTH OF ARIZONA AND 2) THE WESTSIDE OF
THIRD STREET NORTH OF HILL STREET
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Mon1ca has enacted an
Oridnance enabling on-street physically disabled parking zones to be established;
and
WHEREAS, Staff 1S in receipt of two requests for such zones; and
WHEREAS, the Parklng and Traffic Engineer has considered the request and
concluded based upon the factors stated ln the Ord1nance, that physically handlcapped
parklng zones may be installed at the two requested locations,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. A physically disabled parking space is hereby established on the
eastside of 15th Street north of Arizona Avenue immediately adjacent to the Les Kelly
Clinic.
SECTION 2. A physlcally disabled parking space between the hours of 9:00 a.m.
and 6:00 p.m., weekdays, is hereby established on the westslde of Third Street north
of Hlll Street immed1ately adjacent to the Ocean Park Community Center.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution,
and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
