Introduction
Th1s report recommends the City Council approve the attached
resolution to establish a parking zone
for the physically
handicapped at the requested location.
Backgrounc!..
On May 27, 1980 (Item 6C) the City Council adopted an
ordinance to enable the establishment of park1ng zones for
physically
handicapped.
Under
this
ordinance
a
physically
handicapped zone may be established by resolutl.on of the Cl.ty
Council upon request by any individual and consideration by the
Parking and Traffic Engineer.
St af f has rece1 ved a req uest fr om the Independent L1 ving
Sk1lls Center for a physically handicapped zone adjacent to 1724
Pearl Street. Staff has reV1ewed the request and finds that the
zone meets all the appropriate requirements.
Budget/F1nancial Impact
There is no budget or financial impact resulting from this
request.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA ESTABLISHING PHYSICALLY
HANDICAPPED ZONE ADJACENT TO 1724 PEARL STREET.
WHEREAS. the C~ty Counc~l of the City of Santa Mon~ca has
enacted an ordlnance enabllng lndlviduals to request park1ng
zones for physlcally hand1capped person; and
WHEREAS. the Clty has recelved a request for a physically
handlcapped zone; and
WHEREAS. the Parking and TrafflC Englneer has considered
the request and concluded. based upon the factors stated in the
ordlnance. that an add~t~onal physically handlcapped zone may be
installed at the requested locatlon.
NOTtl. THEREFORE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
A physlcally handlcapped zone is hereby
establlshed on the south 5lde of Pearl street ad] acent to 1724
Pearl Street.
SECTION 2.
The Clty Clerk shall certlfy to the adoptlon
of th~s resolutlon. and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be 1n full force and effect.
