INTRODUCTION
This report recommends the City Council adopt a resolution
establishing physically disabled parking zones at 1351 Pacific
Street and on Virginia Avenue adjacent to Edison Elementary
School.
BACKGROUND
Staff has received two requests for the establistment of
physically disabled parking zones at 1351 Pacific Street and on
Virginia
Avenue adjacent to Edison Elementary School. The
Municipal
Code
reads
a Physically Disabled zone may be
established if either of the following factors exists:
1. Curb parking is insufficient due to heavy area
parking; or
2. Sufficient vehicular actiVity by physically disabled
persons exists at the location.
Staff has reviewed both of the requested zones and determined
they meet the requirements outlined in the Municipal Code.

The area around 1351 Pacific Street has a high on-street
parking demand due to Santa Monica College. The zone on Virginfa
wlll be located at the end of an existing bus zone to provide for
a physically disabled teacher. The teacher used to park on the
school grounds but due to several temporary structures placed on
the grounds there is no longer parking close
by the teachers
classroom.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended City Council adopt a resolution establishing
physically disabled parking zones at 1351 Pacific Street and on
Virginia Avenue adjacent to Edison Elementary School.
