Background On May 27, 1980, the City Council adopted an ordinance to enable the establishment of parking zones for the physically handicapped. Under this ordinance a physically handicapped zone may be established by a resolution of the City Council upon request by any individual and verification by the City Parking and Traffic Engineer. staff has received three requests from city residents for the installation of physically handicapped zones adjacent to: 1) a mUlti-family development at 1753 17th street, 2) the Senior Citizen Center at 1450 Ocean Avenue; and 3) a multi-family development at 2048 14th street. staff has reviewed the requests and finds that the zones meet all the appropriate requirements. Recommendation It is recommended that resolutions establishing the City Council three physically adopt the attached handicapeed zones adjacent to: 1) 1753 17th street, 2) 1450 Ocean Avenue; and 3) 2048 14th street. A physically handicapped zone is hereby established adjacent to 1753 17th Street, on the east side of 17th street north of Michigan Avenue. SECTION 2.
