Establishment of Parking Zones for the Physically
Handicapped
Introduction
This report recommends that the city Council approve the attached
resolutions to establish three parking zones for the physically
handicapped at the requested locations.
Background
On May 27, 1980, the City Council adopted an ordinance to enable
the establishment
of parking
zones
for the physically
handicapped. Under this ordinance a physically handicapped zone
may be established by a resolution of the City Council upon
request by any individual and verification by the City Parking
and Traffic Engineer.
staff has received three requests from city residents for the
installation of physically handicapped zones adjacent to:
1) a mUlti-family development at 1753 17th street,
2) the Senior Citizen Center at 1450 Ocean Avenue; and
3) a multi-family development at 2048 14th street.
staff has reviewed the requests and finds that the zones meet all
the appropriate requirements.

There is no budget or financial impact resulting from these
requests.
Recommendation
It is recommended that
resolutions establishing
the City Council
three physically
adopt the attached
handicapeed zones
adjacent to:
1) 1753 17th street,
2) 1450 Ocean Avenue; and
3) 2048 14th street.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
ESTABLISHING A PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED ZONE
ADJACENT TO 1753 17th STREET
WHEREAS, the city Council of the City of santa Monica has
enacted an ordinance enabling individuals to request parking
zones for physically handicapped persons; and
WHEREAS, the city has received a request for a physically
handicapped zone; and
WHEREAS, the Parking and Traffic Engineer has considered
the request and concluded, based upon the factors stated in
Municipal Code Section 3366A, that an additional physically
handicapped zone may be installed at the requested location,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
A physically handicapped zone is hereby
established adjacent to 1753 17th Street, on the east side of
17th street north of Michigan Avenue.
SECTION 2. The city Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect.
