Amendment of Municipal Code Section 3374A
At its meet1ng on November 3, 1981, the C1ty Council
introduced for first read1ng an ordinance amending Munic~pal
Code Section 3374A. The ordinance is now presented to the
C1ty Council for adopt1on.
RECOMMENDATION
It 1S respectfully recommended that the accompanY1ng
ordinance be adopted.

Amendment of Mun1C1pal Code Section 3374A
At ~ts meet~ng on October 13, 1981, the City Council
directed the C1ty Attorney to draft an ordinance amending
MunLcipal Code section 3374A to reduce the height limit from
eight feet to seven and one-half feet for vehicles parked
overnight 1n res~dential d1stricts.
At 1tS meeting on September 8, 1981, the C1ty Counc11
d~rected the C1ty Attorney to draft an ordinance proh1b1ting
the park~ng of tra11ers 1n residential d~stricts to the same
extent as recreational vehicles.
The accompanying ord~nance amends Mun1cipal Code
Section 3374A to reduce the he1ght from eight feet to seven
and one-half feet and to expand the scope of the section to
~nc1ude tra11ers.
RECOMMENDATION
It ~s respectfully recommended that the accompanying
ord1nance be lntroduced for first reading.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA AMENDING
SECTION 3374A OF THE SANTA MONICA
MUNICIPAL CODE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 3374A of the Santa Monica Municipal
Code ~s amended to read as follows:
Section 3374A. Parking of
Tra11ers and Large Vehicles in ReS1-
dential Districts. Between the hours
of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on any
public street or alley 10 a res1den-
t1al distr1ct as estab11shed by
Article IX of this Code, no person
shall park any tra~ler or any vehicle
of which any part of the veh~cle,
together with all f1xtures, accessor-
1es or property with the exception of
slngle post radio antennas, measures
more than eight (8) feet in width, or
seven and one-half (7 1/2) feet 1n

height, or twenty (20) feet in
length, unless such person shall have
a perm1t for such trailer or vehicle,
and in no event for a period exceed-
1ng two 24 hour per1ods.
SECTION 2. Any provision of the Santa Monica Municipal
Code or appendices thereto ~ncons1stent with the provisions
of th1s ordinance, to the extent of such 1nconsistencies and
no further, is hereby repealed or mod~fied to that extent
necessary to affect the provisions of this ord~nance.
SECTION 3. If any section, subsect1on, sentence,
clause, or phrase of th1s ord1nance is for any reason held to
be inval~d or unconstltut1onal by a dec1sion of any court of
competent Jurisd1ct~on, such decision shall not affect the
va11d1ty of the remaining portions of the ord1nance. The
City Counc11 hereby declares that ~t would have passed th1s
ordinance and each and every section, subsection, sentence,
clause, or phrase not declared invalid or unconstitutional
without regard to whether any portion of the ordinance would
be subsequently declared invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 4. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk
shall attest to the passage of th~s ordinance. The City
Clerk shall cause the same to be published once in the
off1c1al newspaper within 15 days after its adoption. The
ordinance shall become effect1ve 30 days from its adoption.
