SECTIO:N 1. Ordlnance No. 897 (CCS) lS hereby anended and
as amended shall read as follows:
The terro of offlce of the represe~tatlve
of the Clty of Santa Monica on the Board of Directors of the
Metropolltan Water Distrlct shall be four (4) years.
Such term shall commence on January 1 of an odd-nu~bered year
and explre on Deceffiber 31 of an even-numbered year or untll
a successor has been apPolnted and quali.fled.
SECTIO!\j 2. Any provlslon of the Santa Mon1ca Mun1clpal Code
or appenG1CeS thereto lnconSlstent therewlth, to the extent of such
lnconslste~cles and no further, are hereby renealed or modlflcd to
tbat exte~t necessary to affec~ the provlslons of thlS ordlnance.
SECTION 3. If any sectlon, subsectlon, sentence, clause, or
phrase of thl s ord lnance 15 for any reason held to be lnvalld or
unconstltutlonal by a declslon of any court of any competent jurls-
dlctlon, such declslon shall not affect the valldlty of the remalnlng

SECTION 4. The r-1a yor shall sign and the Clty Clerk shall
attest to the passage of thlS ordinance, The Clty Clerk shall
cause the same to be publlshed once ln the officlal newspaper
w~thln flfteen (15) days after lts adoptlon. The ordinance shall
become effectlve after thirty (30) days from lts adoptlon.
