SUBJECT: Sidewalk Improvements - Memorial Park
Introduction
This staff report requests CounC1l approval of the sidewalk lmprovements along the
16th Street side of Memorial Park.
Background
In the 1980-81 budget, Councll approved the sum of $8,500 for thlS proJect. The
proposed proJect would install a new sidewalk adjacent to the curb along the 16th
Street slde of Memorial Park, create an entrance to the athletic complex, and
apply sealer to the eXlstlng asphalt pavement, The eXlstlng sldewalk has become useless
because it is not contlnuous and 1S not allgned with sidewalks from the street
corner. By moving the sidewalk to the curb an eXlsting barren area would be
reclalmed for park use, The eXlst1ng asphalt is pitted and difficult to keep clean.
Application of sealer would improve appearance and maintenance efficlency.
A schematic drawing of this installation is available in the Park Superlntendent's
office and will be at the Councll meeting for Council's consideratlon.

Staff recommends alternatlve no. 1, that Council approve the design of the 16th Street
