SUBJECT: Setting January 13, 1981, as the Date for
Publ~c Hear~na on the Assessment of Costs
to Repair Da~aged Sidewalks, Driveways,
and Curbs (SR-BO-ll )
Introduction
This report requests the City Council set a public hear~ng for the
assessrrent of the costs to repa~r damaged sidewalks, driveways and
curbs.
Background
On October 9, 1979, the City Counc~l approved a s~dewalk repair
program whlch prov~ded for property owner particlpat~on In the
cost of repalrlng daMaged s~dewalks (Itemll-C). Property owner
particlpation was set at 50% of the cost of the repairs, with the
C~ty to pay the remaining 50% of the cost of the repair wlthout
regard to the reason for the damage.
Certain repa~r work has now been completed and the property
owner's share of the costs will now be due. A public hearing must
be held pursuant to provisions of Dlvlsion 7, Chapter 22, Sectlons
5600 to 5630, of the Streets and Highways Code for the State of
Cal~fornia. A resolution setting the public hearing for January
13, 1981 ~s attached.

It is recommended the City Councll adopt the attached resolution
setting a public hearing for January 13, 1981, on the assessment
of costs of the subJect sldewalk repairs.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SAI'JTA MONICA SETTING A
HEARIKG DATE FOR ANY PROTESTS OR
OBJECTIONS TO THE REPORT OF THE
SUPERI!'TTENDENT OF STREETS REGARDIKG
REPAIR OF SIDEWALKS, DRIVE~vAYS AND
CURBS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAL~TA MONICA
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION L That the Superintendent of Streets
will f~le a report of work pursuant to DJ.vision 7,
Chapter 22, Sect~ons 5600 and 5630 of the Streets and
H~ghways Code of the State of CalJ.fornia, relating to
the construction of certain improvements to sidewalks
and driveways.
SECTION 2. That pursuant to Section 5600 et
seq. of said code, the City council does hereby order
and declare that on the 13th day of January, 1981, in
the CouncJ.l Chambers of the City Hall, it will hear and
pass upon any and all obJections or protests to the
report of work of the Superintendent of Streets and the
amount of the assessment ass~gned against the real
property described in said report.
SECTION 3. That all protests or objections
must be in writing ane filed w~th the City Clerk on or
before the tiJ1le set for hearing of protests and
objections.
SECTION 4. The Superintendent of Streets is hereby

directed to mail notices, in the manner and form
prescribed by law, of the adoptlon of this resolution to
all persons ownlng real property affected by the
sidewalk aSseSSPlent repair progral'l, whose names and
addresses appear on the last equalized assessment roll
for the Clty taxes or as known to the City Clerk.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to
the adoption of this resolutlon and thenceforth and
thereafter the sa~e shall be in full force and effect.
