SUBJECT. Setting December 9, 1980, as the Date for Public Hearing on the
Assessment of Costs to Repalr Damaged Sidewalks, Dr1veways, and
Curbs (SR-SO-10)
Introduction
This report requests the C1ty Council set a publ1C hear1ng for the assessMent
of the costs to repa1r damaged sidewalks, driveways and curbs.
Background
On October 9, 1979, the Clty Council approved a sidewalk repair program which
provlded for property owner partlclpation 1n the cost of repair1ng damaged
sldewalks (Item ll-C), Property owner partic1patlon was set at 50% of the
cost of the repairs, with the City to pay the remain1ng sot of the cost of the
repalr wlthout regard to the reason for the damage.
Certain repa1r work has now been completed and the property owner's share of
the costs w1ll now be due. A public hearlng must be held pursuant to
provislons of D1v1s1on 7, Chapter 22, Sectlon 5600 to 5630, of the Streets and
H1ghways Code for the State of Cal1forn1a. A resolution sett1ng the publlc
hearing for December 9, 1980 1S attached.
Recommendat1on
It is recommended that the City Counc1l adopt the attached resolutlon sett1ng a
publlC hearlng for December 9, 1980, on the assessment of costs of the subJect
Sldewalk repa1rs.

RESOLUTION NO. 6129
(CITY COUNCIL SERIES)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA SETTING A HEARING DATE FOR ANY PROTESTS OR
OBJECTIONS TO THE REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF
STREETS REGARDING REPAIR OF SIDEWALKS, DRIVEWAYS, AND
CURBS (SR-80-l0)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MO~ICA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Superintendent of Streets will file a report
of work pursuant to Division 7, Chapter 22, Sectlons 5600 and 5630 of the
Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, relating to the
construction of certain improvements to sldewalks and driveways.
SECTION 2. That pursuant to Sectlon 5600 et seq. of said code
the City Council does hereby order and declare that on the 9th day of December,
1980, in the Councll Chambers of the Clty Hall. it wlll hear and pass upon
any and all objections or protests to the report of work of the Superintendent
of Streets and the amount of the assessment asslgned agalnst the real
property described 1n said report~.
SECTION 3. That all protests or obJectlons must be in writing and
filed with the City Clerk on or before the time set for hearing of protests
and objections.
SECTION 4. The Street Superintendent hereby is directed to mail
notices. in the manner and form prescrlbed by law. of the adoption of this
resolution to all persons owning real property affected by the sidewalk
assessment repair program. whose names and addresses appear on the last equalized
assessment roll for the city taxes or as known to the City Clerk.

SECn ON 5. The Clty Clerk shall certify to the adoptlon of
this resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full
force and effect.
