SUBJECT: Resolution setting a Public Hearing for February 9,
1988, on the Assessment of Costs to Repair Damaged
Sidewalks, Driveways, and Curbs on various streets
(SR-88-1.05)
Introduction
This report requests that the City council set a public hearing
for February 9, 1.988, to hear protests regarding the work and
confirm the assessments of the cost to repair damaged sidewalks,
driveways and curbs.
Background
On October 9, 1979, the City Council approved a sidewalk repair
program which provided for property owner participation in the
cost of repairing damaged sidewalks. Residential property owner
participation is 50% of the cost of the repairs if the damage is
related to tree roots; the City pays the remaining 50% of the
cost of the repair. Property owners are assessed 100% of the
cost if the damage is not related to tree roots and commercial
property owners are assessed 100% of the cost regardless of the
cause of the damage.
Certain repair work has been completed at the following addresses
and the property owners' share of the cost is now due for the
following properties: 336 14th street, 1060 Harvard Street, 333
1.1th street, 1242 lOth street, 1128 San Vicente Boulevard, 832
San Vicente Boulevard, 1122 San Vicente Boulevard, 1844 17th

street, 1523 6th street, 1513 6th street, 1020 Chelsea Avenue,
and 501 Santa Monica Boulevard.
A hearing must be held pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 22,
Sections 5600 to 5630, of the Streets and Highways Code of the
state of California. A Resolution setting the public hearing for
February 9, 1988, is attached.
BUdget/Financial Impact
The financial analysis, which will indicate total revenues to be
derived from this assessment district over the next two years,
will be presented to City Council at the time of public hearing.
Recommendation
It is recommended the city Council adopt the attached Resolution
setting a public hearing for February 9, 1988, on the assessment
of costs of the subject sidewalk repairs.
