SUBJECT: Setting J u1 y 14, 1981, as the Date for
Public Hearing on the Assessment of Costs
to Repair Damaged Sidewalks, Driveways,
and Curbs (SR-80-17)
Introductlon
This report requests the City Council set a public hearing for the
assessment of the costs to repair damaged sidewalks, driveways and
curbs.
Background
On October 9, 1979, the C T ty Council approved a sidewalk repair
program wh i c h provided for property owner participation in the
cost of repairing damaged sidewalks ( 1 t em 11- C) . Property owner
participation was set at 50% of the cost of the repairs; the City
will pay the remaining 50% of the cost of the repair without
regard to the reason for the damage.
Certain repair work has been completed and the property owners'
share of the costs will now be due. A public hearing must be held
pursuant to provisions of Division 7, Chapter 22, Sections 5600 to
5630, of the Streets and Highways Code for the State of
California. A resolution setting the publiC hearing for July 14,
1981 is attached.

Recommendation
It is recommended the City Council adopt the attached resolution
setting a public hearing for July 14, 1981, on the assessment of
costs of the subject sidewalk repairs.

RESOLUTION NO. 6274
(CITY COUNCIL SERIES)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA SETTING A
HEARING DATE FOR ANY PROTESTS OR
OBJECTIONS TO THE REPORT OF THE
SUPERINTENDENT OF STREETS REGARDING
REPAIR OF SIDEWALKS, DRIVEWAYS AND
CURBS. (SR-80-17)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Superintendent of Streets
will file a report of repair pursuant to Section 5617 of
the Streets and Highways Code of the State of
California, relating to the construction of certain
improvements to sidewalks and driveways all within the
City of Santa Monica.
SECTION 2. That pursuant to Section 5600 et
seq. of sa i d code, the Ci ty Counc i 1 does hereby order
and declare that on the 14th day of July, 1981, at 7:30
P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, it will
hear and pass upon the report by the Superintendent of
Streets of the cost of repair, together with any
objections or protests, if al', which may be raised by
any property owner liable to be assessed for the cost of
such repalr and any other interested persons.
SECTION 3. That all protests or objections
must be in writing and filed with the City Clerk on or
before the time set for hearing of protests and
Objections.

Reference is made to the attached sheets for a
description of the real property in front of which the work has
been done, the proposed assessment aqainst each property, and a
description of the work done in front of each property.
