SUBJECT: Setting March 25, 1980, as the Date for Public Hearing on
the Assessment of Costs to Repair Damaged Sidewalks, Driveways
and Curbs (SR-80-2)
Introduction
Th1S report 1S request1ng the City Council to set a public hearing for the
assessment of the costs to repalr damaged sidewalks, driveways and curbs.
Background
On October 9, 1979, the C1ty Counc1l approved a sldewalk repair program WhlCh
provlded for property owner partlcipatlon in the cost of repalrlng damaged
sidewalks (Item ll-C). Property owner part1cipation was set at 50% of the
cost of the repairs, wlth the City to pay the remain1ng 50% of the cost of
the repair without regard to the reason for the damage.
Certa1n repair work has now been completed and the property owner's share of
the costs w11l now be due. A public hear1ng must be held pursuant to pro-
vislons of Div1s10n 7, Chapter 22, Sectlon 5600 to 5630, of the Streets and
Highways Code for the State of Cal1fornia. A resolution settlng the public
hearlng for March 25, 1980 1S attached.
Recommendat10n
It is recommended that the C1ty Council adopt the attached resolutlon setting
a publ1C hearing for March 25, 1980, on the assessment of costs of the
subject sidewalk repalrs.

RESOLUTION NO. 5505
(CITY COUNCIL SERIES)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA APPROVING THE FILING OF REPORT OF WORK AND
SETTING A HEARING DATE FOR ANY PROTESTS OR OBJECTIONS
TO THE REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF STREETS REGARDING
REPAIR OF SIDEWALKS, DRIVEWAYS AND CURBS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Superintendent of Streets has filed a
report of work pursuant to Division 7, Chapter 22, Sectlons 5600 and 5630 of
the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, relating to the
constructlon of certain improvements to sldewalks and drlveways.
SECTION 2. That pursuant to Sectlon 5600 et seq. of said code,
the City Council does hereby order and declare that on the 25th day of
March, 1980, ln the Council Chambers of the City Hall, it will hear and
pass upon any and all objections or protests to the report of work of the
Superlntendent of Streets and the amount of the assessment assigned agalnst
the real property described in sald report.
SECTION 3. That all protests or objections must be in wrlting
and filed wlth the Clty Clerk on or before the time set for hear1ng of
protests and obJectlons.
SECTION 4. The Street Superintendent hereby 1S directed to mall not1ces,
in the manner and form prescrlbed by law, of the adoption of this resolution
to all persons ownlng real property affected by the sldewalk assessment
repair program~ whose names and addresses appear on the last equallzed assess-
ment roll for the city taxes or as known to the Clty Clerk.
