TO: Mayor and City council
FROM: City staff
SUBJECT: Resolution setting a Public Hearing for May 9, 1989, on
the Assessment of Costs to Repair Damaged Sidewalks,
Driveways, and Curbs on Various streets (SR-89-132j133 )
Introduction
This report requests that the City Council set a public hearing
for May 9, 1989, to hear protests regarding the work and confirm
the assessments of the cost to repair damaged sidewalks,
driveways and curbs.
Background
On October 9, 1979, the city Council approved a sidewalk repair
program which provided for property owner participation in the
cost of repairing damaged sidewalks. Residential property owner
participation is 50% of the cost of the repairs if the damage is
related to tree roots; the City pays the remaining 50% of the
cost of the repair. Property owners are assessed 100% of the
cost if the damage is not related to tree roots and commercial
property owners are assessed 100% of the cost regardless of the
cause of the damage.
Certain repair work has been completed at the following addresses
and the property owners' share of the cost is now due for the
following properties: 1750 Euclid street, 2228 3rd street, 1104
Franklin Street, 847 9th street, 1000 Georgina Avenue, 1007
Euclid street, 344 Euclid street, 844 Harvard street, 515 25th
Street, 2538 La Mesa Drive, 409 Santa Monica Boulevard, 101-115

sections 5600 to 5630, of the Streets and Highways Code of the
state of California. A Resolution setting the public hearing for
May 9, 1989, is attached.
