SUBJECT : Setting May 13, 1980, as the Date for Public Hearing on the
Assessment of Costs to Repair Damaged Sidewalks, Driveways
and Curbs (SR-80-4)
Introduction
ThlS report 15 requesting the City Counc11 to set a public hearing for the
assessment of the costs to repair damaged sldewalks, driveways and curbs.
Background
On October 9, 1979, the City Council approved a sidewalk repair program which
provided for property owner participation in the cost of repairing damaged
sidewalks (Item ll-C). Property owner participation was set at 50% of the
cost of the repairs, with the City to pay the remaining 50% of the cost of
the repa1r without regard to the reason for the damage.
Certa1n repa1r work has now been completed and the property owner's share of
the costs will now be due. A public hearing must be held pursuant to pro-
visions of Div1sion 7, Chapter 22, Section 5600 to 5630, of the Streets and
Highways Code for the State of California. A resolution setting the public
hearing for May 13, 1980 is attached.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached resolution setting
a public hearing for May 13, 1980, on the assessment of costs of the subject
sidewalk repairs.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA SETTING A HEARING DATE FOR ANY PROTESTS OR OBJECTIONS
TO THE REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF STREETS REGARDING
REPAIR OF SIDEWALKS, DRIVEWAYS AND CURBS. (SR-80-4)
THE CIrY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS.
SECTION 1. That the Superintendent of Streets wl11 file a report
of work pursuant to D1Vlsion 7, Chapter 22. Sections 5600 and 5630 of the
Streets and Hlghways Code of the State of California, relating to the
construction of certaln improvements to sidewalks and driveways.

SECTION 2. That pursuant to Section 5600 et seq. of sald code
the Clty Council does hereby order and declare that on the 13th day of May,
1980, ln the Council Chambers of the City Hall, It wlll hear and pass upon
any and all obJections or protests to the report of work of the Superintendent

of Streets and the amount of the assessment assigned against the real
property described in said report.
SECTION 3. That all protests or obJectlons must be in writing and
fi1ed with the City Clerk on or before the time set for hearing of protests
and objections.
SECTION 4. The Street Superintendent ~ereby is dlrected to mail
notices, ln the manner and form prescrlbed by law. of the adoption of this
resolution to all persons owning real property affected by the sldewalk
assessment repair program. whose names and addresses appear on the last
equalized assessment roll for the city taxes or as known to the City Clerk.

SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoptlon of
