SubJect: Setting July 8, 1980, as the Date for PubllC Hearing on the
Assessment of Costs to Repair Damaged Sidewalks, Driveways
and Curbs (SR-80-S)
Introduction
This report is requesting the City Councll to set a publlC hearing for the
assessment of the costs to repair damaged sldewalks, drlveways and curbs.
Background
On October 9, 1979, the City Council approved a sidewalk repair program which
provlded for property owner partlcipatlon ln the cost of repairing damaged
sidewalks (Item ll-C). Property owner partlclpatlon was set at 50% of the
cost of the repdlrs, wlth the Clty to pay the remalning 50% of the cost of
the repalr wlthout regard to the reason for the damage.
Certaln repalr work has now been completed and the property owner1s share of
the costs w11l now be due. A public hear1ng must be held pursuant to provlslons
of Divlsion 7, Chapter 22, Sectlon 5600 to 5630, of the Streets and Hlghways Code
for the State of Callfornla. A re501ut1on setting the publ1C hear1ng for

Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Councl1 adopt the attached resolution setting
a public hearlng for July 8, 1980, on the assessment of costs of the subject
sidewalk repalrs.

RESDLUTI ON NO. 5590
(CITY COUNCIL SERIES)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA SETTING A HEARING DATE FOR ANY PROTESTS OR OBJECTIONS
TO THE REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF STREETS REGARDING
REPAIR OF SIDEWALKS~ DRIVEWAYS AND CURBS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION i. That the Superintendent of Streets will file a report
of work pursuant to Division 7~ Chapter 22. Sections 5600 and 5630 of the
Streets and Hlghways Code of the State of California, relating to the
construction of certain lmprovements to sidewalks and driveways.
SECTION 2. That pursuant to Sectlon 5600 et seq. of said code
the City Council does hereby order and declare that on the 8th day of July,
1980, in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. lt will hear and pass upon
any and all objections or protests to the report of work of the Superintendent
of Streets and the amount of the assessment assigned against the real
property described in said report.
SECTION 3. That all protests or objections must be in writing and .
filed with the City Clerk on or before the time set for hearing of protests
and objections. ,
SECTION 4. The Street Superintendent hereby is directed to mail
notices. in the manner and form prescribed by law, of the adoption of this
resolution to all persons owning real property affected by the sidewalk

equalized assessment roll for the city taxes or as known to the City Clerk.
