ThlS report recommends the City Council award a contract for the construction
of the Cloverfield Boulevard street wldening project between Santa Monica
Boulevard and Broadway, to the lowest responslble bidder. Securlty Paving
Company, Inc., 1n the amount of $154,721.50.
Background
On August 22, 1978, (Item lIA), the City Council approved conceptual
improvement plans for the widening of Cloverf1eld Boulevard between Santa
Monica Boulevard and Broadway. All rlghts of way have been acquired
and staff is ready to begln constructlon
Plans and specifications for the modification were lssued to 15 contractors.
Bids were opened in the City Councll Chambers after 3:00 P,M. on November 12,
and read publ1Cly by the Assistant City Clerk. Six bids were received as
follows:

Funds are available ln the Gas Tax Fund, It wlll be necessary
for the Council to appropriate these funds for the project.
RecommendatlOn
It is recommended the Council award the contract to Security Paving
Company, Inc., the lowest responsible bidder, in the amount of
$154,721.50, and to appropriate funds in the amount of $180,000 from
the Gas Tax Fund 2107.

Icouncllmember Reed moved to approve the approprlatlon and the contract as
I recommended. Following discussion, Mayor Bambrick moved to table the ,
!motion and that the matter be continued to January 13, 1981. Second by I
iCouncilmember Rhoden. The motion to table was approved by the following
ivote:
