SUBJECT: Setting August 11, 1981, as the Date for
Public Hearing on the Assessment of Costs
to Repair Damaged Sidewalks, Driveways,
and Curbs (SR-80-18)
Introduction
This report requests the City Council set a public hearing for the
assessment of the costs to repair damaged sidewalks, driveways and
curbs.
Background
On October 9, 1979, the City Council approved a sidewalk repair
program which provided for property owner participation in the
cost of repairing damaged sidewalks (Item ll-C). Property owner
participation was set at 50% of the cost of the repairs; the City
wlll pay the remaining 50% of the cost of the repair without
regard to the reason for the damage.
Certain r ep air work has been completed and the property owners'
share of the costs will now be due. A public hearing must be held
pursuant to provisions of Division 7, Chapter 22, Sections 5600 to
5630, of the Streets and Highways Code for the State of
Cal ifornia. A resolution setting the public hearing for August
11, 1981 is attached.

Recommendation
It is recommended the City Council adopt the attached resolution
setting a public hearing for August 11, 1981, on the assessment of
costs of the subject sidewalk repairs.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA SETTING A
HEARING DATE FOR ANY PROTESTS OR
OBJECTIONS TO THE REPORT OF THE
SUPER I NTENDE NT OF STREETS REGARDING
REPAIR OF SIDEWALKS, DRIVEWAYS AND
CURBS. (SR-80-18)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONIC~
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FaLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Superintendent of Streets
wi 11 file a report of repair pursuant to Section 5617 of
the Streets and Highways Code of the State of
California, relating to the construction of certairt
irnprovements to s1de'lIalks and drlveways all within the
City of Santa Monica.
SECTiON 2. That pursuant to Section 5600 et
seq. of said code, the City Counci 1 does hereby order
and declare that on the 11th day of August, 1981, at
7:30 P. M. , in the CounciT Chambers of the City HalT, it
wi 11 hear and pass upon the report by the Superintendent
of Streets of the cost of repair, together with any
objections or protests, . F which may )e raised by
