Introduction ,
This report 1S request1ng the City Council to set a public hearlng for the
assessment of the Costs to repalr damaged sidewalks, driveways and curbs.
Background
On October 9, 1979, the City Council approved a sldewalk repalr program WhlCh
provided for property owner particlpatlon in the cost of repairing damaged
sldewalks (Item II-C). Property owner particlpat10n was set at 50 percent of
the cost of the repalr without regard to the reason for the damage.
Certain repair work has now been completed and the property owner's share of
the costs wlll now be due. A public hear1ng must be held pursuant to provi-
Slons of Division 7~ Chapter 22, Sectlon 5600 to 5630, of the Streets and
Highways Code for the State of California. A resolution setting the public
hearlng for Apr1l 8, 1980, is attached.
Recommendation
-
It 1S recommended that the City Councll adopt the attached resolution setting
a public hearlng for Aprll 8, 1980, on the assessment of costs of the subJect
side~alk repalfs.

RESOLUTION NO. 5529

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
f10NICA APPROVING THE FILING OF REPORT OF \{ORK AND
SETTING A HEARING DATE FOR ANY PROTESTS OR OBJECTIONS
TO THE REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF STREETS REGARD-
ING REPAIR OF SIDEHALKS ~ DRIVEl~AYS AND CURBS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SA~TA MONICA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE
AS FOLLOt{S:
SECTION 1. That the Superintendent of Streets has filed a report
of work pursuant to Divls10n 7~ Chapter 22, Sections 5600 and 5630 of the Streets
and Highways Code of the State of California, relat1ng to the constructlon of
certain improvements to sidewalks and driveways.
SECTION 2. That pursuant to Section 5600 et seq. of said code,
the City Council does hereby order and declare that on the 8th day of Aprll,
1980, in the Counc1l Chambers of the City Hall, it will hear and pass upon any
and all objections or protests to the report of work of the Superintendent of
Streets and the amount of the assessment assigned against the real property
described 1n said report.
SECTION 3. That all protests or objections must be in writing and
f1led wlth the City Clerk on or before the ti~e set for hearing of protests and
objections.
SECTION 4. The Street Superlntendent hereby is dlrected to mail
notices, in the manner and form prescrlbed by law, of the adoption of this
resolutlon to all persons ownlng real property affected by the sidewalk assess-
ment repair program~ whose names and addresses appear on the last equalized
assessment roll for the C1ty taxes or as known to the City Clerk.
