Subject: Setting August 26, 1980, as the Date for Public Hearing on the
Assessment of Costs to Repair Damaged Sidewalks, Driveways and
Curbs (SR-80-6)
I ntroducti on
Th1S report is requesting the City Council to set a public hearing for the
assessment of the costs to repair damaged sldewalks, drlveways and curbs.
Background
On October 9, 1979, the City Council approved a sidewalk repair program which
provided for property owner participation in the cost of repairing damaged
sidewalks (Item 11-C). Property owner participation was set at 50% of the
cost of the repairs, w1th the City to pay the remaining 50% of the cost of
the repair without regard to the reason for the damage.
Certain repair work has now been completed and the property ownerJs share of
the costs w1ll now be due. A public hearing must be held pursuant to provisions
of Division 7, Chapter 22, Section 5600 to 5630, of the Streets and Highways
Code for the State of Ca 1i fornia. A resolution settlng the public hearing for
August 26, 1980 1S attached.
Recommendat1on
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached resolution setting a
public hearing for August 26, 1980, on the assessment of costs of the subject
sidewalk repairs.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA SETTING A HEARING DATE FOR ANY PROTESTS OR
OBJECTIONS TO THE REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF STREETS
REGARDING REPAIR OF SIDEWALKS. DRIVEWAYS AND CURBS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Superintendent of Streets will file a report
of work pursuant to Division 7. Chapter 22. Sectlons 5600 and 5630 of the
Streets and Highways Code of the State of California. relating to the construc-
tion of certain improvements to s1dewalks and driveways.
SECTION 2. That pursuant to Sectlon 5600 et seq. of sald code
the City Councll does hereby order and declare that on the 26th day of August.
1980. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. it will hear and pass upon any
and all objections or protests to the report of work of the Superintendent of
Streets and the amount of the assessment assigned against the real property
described in sald report.
SECTION 3. That all protests or objections must be in wrlting and
filed with the City Clerk on or before the time set for hearing of protests and
objections.
SECTION 4. The Street Superintendent hereby is directed to mai1
notices. in the manner and form prescribed by law. of the adoption of this
resolutlon to all persons owning real property affected by the sidewalk assess-
ment repair program, whose names and addresses appear on the last equallzed
assessment roll for the city taxes or as known to the City Clerk.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolutlon and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and
effect. S
