City staff recommends making the following adjustments:
a) to the Assessments; b) to the Superintendent's Report.
To the Assessments
Revise the Assessment for 1137 Second Street from $4900 to $2450.
To the Superintendent's Report
Due to an omission in the original staff report, revise the
Street Superintendent's Report to delete, remove, and replace 450
square feet of sidewalk at $4.00 per square foot and 325 square
feet removal only in parkway at $2.00 per square foot. The
assessment will be at 100%.
The total amount of revised assessments is $8,439.50.

SUBJECT: Public Hearing on Assessments of Costs to Repair Damaged
Sidewalks, Driveways and Curbs (SR-89-134/135)
Introduction
This report requests that the City Council hold a public hearing for
the assessment of costs to repair damaqed sidewalks, driveways and
curbs at var~ous locations within the City. It is recommended that
the City Council adopt the attached Resolution confirming the
assessment of costs.
Background
On April 25, 1989, the City Council set a public hearing for May 23,
1989, on the assessment of costs to repair damaged sidewalks,
driveways and curbs wi thin the City of Santa Monica. Notices were
sent on May 12, 1989 to property owners informing them of the public
hearing in accordance with the legal requirements of Chapter 22 of the
Improvement Act of 1911.
BUdget/Financial Impact
This assessment district will generate revenues to the City over the
nex~ t~N'O years in the amount of $8,4-39.50. Any unpaid assessments
will be placed on the 1989-1990 property tax bill.

OF OBSTRUCTIONS, PERFORMED ONDER PROVISIONS OF DIVISION 7,
CHAPTER 22, SECTIONS 5600 TO 5630, OF THE STREETS AND HIGHWAYS
CODE OF THE STATE OF ~FORNIA (SR-89-l34/135)
Pursuant to the provisions of Division 7, Chapter 22, Sections
5600 to 5630, of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of
California, the following work was caused to be done by the Street
Superintendent:
The removal and replacement of 2383.5 square feet of sidewalk
at $4.00 per square foot~
The removal and replacement of 90 square feet of sidewalk in
driveway at $5.00 per square foot:
The removal and replacement of 75 square feet of driveway
apron at $5.00 per square foot:
The removal and replacement of 18 linear feet of curbing at
$10.00 per linear foot:
The removal (only) of 297 square feet of parkway at $2.00 per
square feet:
The total cost of the above work was $11,133.00.
The total proposed assessment for the above sidewalk and curb
damage is $5,566.50 or 50 percent of the total cost. The other 50
percent of the cost is being paid by the City as the above repairs
were caused by tree root damage.
The removal and replacement of 35 square feet of sidewalk in
driveway at $5.00 per square feet:
The removal (only) of 349 square feet of parkway at $2.00 per
square foot:
Tne removal and replacement of 500 square feet of sidewalk at
$4.00 per linear foot:
The total cost of the above work was $2,813.00.
The total proposed assessment of the above sidewalk and curb
damage is $2,873.00 or 100 percent of the total cost of the above
