IntroductIon
ThlS report requests the CIty Counci1 set a pUb1ic hearing for the
assessment of the costs to repair damaged sIdewalks, driveways and curbs.
Background
On October 9, 1979, the City Counell approved a sidewalk repair program which
provIded for property owner partIcipatIon in the cost of repaIring damaged
sldewa1ks (Item ll-C). Property owner participation was set at 50% of the
cost of the repairs, with the City to pay the remaining 50% of the cost of
the repair wlthout regard to the reason for the damage.
Certaln repair work has now been completed and the property owner's share of
the costs will now be due. A public hearing must be held pursuant to pro-
visions of Divlsion 7, Chapter 22, Section 5600 to 5630. of the Streets and
Hlghways Code for the State of Ca11fornia. A resolution setting the public
hearlng for October 28, 1980 is attached.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached resolution setting
a public hearing for October 28. 1980, on the assessment of costs of the sub-
Ject sldewalk repairs.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA SETTING A HEARHlG DATE FOR ANY PROTESTS OR OBJECTIONS
TO THE REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF STREETS REGARDING
REPAIR OF SIDEWALKS, DRIVEWAYS AND CURBS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE
AS FOLLm~S:
SECTION 1. That the Superlntendent of Streets wll1 file a report
of work pursuant to Divlsion 7, Chapter 22, Sectlons 5600 and 5630 of the
Streets and Hlghways Code of the State of California, relatlng to the
construction of certaln lmprovements to sidewalks and driveways.
SECTION 2. That pursuant to Section 5600 et seq. of said code
the City Councll does hereby order and declare that on the 28th day of October,
1980, in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, it w1ll hear and pass upon
any and all objections or protests to the report of work of the 5uperlntendent
of Streets and the amount of the assessment asslgned against the real
property described 1n said report.
SECTION 3. That all protests or objectlons must be ln wrlting and
f11ed with the City Clerk on or before the time set for hearing of protests
and objections.
SECTION 4. The Street Superintendent hereby 15 directed to mail
notices, in the manner and form prescribed by law, of the adoption of this
resolution to all persons owning real property affected by the sidewalk assess-
ment repair program, whose names and addresses appear on the last equalized
assessment roll for the city taxes or as known to the Clty Clerk.

SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
thlS resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the sa~e shall be in full
force and effect.
