SUBJECT: 1978-79 County ffAid to Cities" Gas Tax Program (C-87)
Introduction
This report is requestlng the City Council to adopt a resolution requesting
the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to appropriate "Aid to Cities"
Gasoline Tax Funds in the amount of $132,530 to the City of Santa Monica
for the purpose of performing certain street repalr work.
Background
Each year, the County appropriates certain Gas Tax funds to Santa Monlca
for the purpose of lmproving and malntaimng our I1Select System" of streets.
Included in the 1978-79 City budget is an amount of $120,000 which was
estimated to be our 1978-79 allocation. The County has sUbsequently
notlfied us that the actual amount is $132,530.
It is the staff1s intention to utillze all of these funds for repairing
and resurfacing the following streets:
1. The north side of Ocean Park Blvd. between 25th Street and
Centinela Avenue.
2. Fourth Street between the Freeway and San Vicente Blvd.
3. Broadway between Fourth Street and Lincoln Blvd.
4. Tvlentieth Street between Hashington Avenue and Olympic Blvd.
5. Santa ~onlca B1vd. between 20th Street and Cloverfle1d 81vd.

Limitation of funds and other factors may dictate that only portions of
the above-named streets will actually be improved.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the CIty Council adopt the attached resolution.

Santa Monlca a total amount of the One Hundred Thirty-two Thousand Flve
Hundred Thlrty Dollars ($132,530) for the improvement of City Streets of
General County lnterest; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica is desirous of lmproving
certain streets on the City's Select System; and
WHEREAS, the Clty of Santa Monlca belleves that improvlng sald
streets is of general County interest~
NOW, THEREFORE, THE C1TY COU~CIL DOES FURTHER RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County
be requested to allocate One Hundred Thirty-two Thousand Flve Hundred Thlrty
Dollars ($132,530) from the County "Ald to Cities" Fund apportloned to the
City of Santa Monlca durlng the 1978-79 fiscal year, for the fo1lowlng
street repair improvements.
