~nfrequently used and are cons1dered potent1ally dangerous due to
11ffi1ted slght d~stances.
rhe real1qnment w111 be accompl1shed Wlth restrip~ng and
Sllghtly real~gu~ng tile center d~v1der and w11l not requ1re
encroachment onto any add~t~ondl r~ght of way, Greater safety
w~ll also be achleved by the ~nstallat10n of new s~gn~ng and
reflectlve markers for better s~ght v~s~b~l~ty.
rhe proposed 23rd Street reallgnment and concrete med1an
barr1er should s~gnlf1cantly reduce the frequency and sever1ty of
trafflc accldents between Navy Street and the south Clty l~mlts.
Budget/F1nanc~al Impact
The proposed cost of the proJect 1S ~19,dOO, Federal funds
w~ll
re~mburse the Clty for 90 percent of the cost, or $17,820.
The remaln1ng 10%

WHEREAS, the Clty of Santa Monica subNitted an
appllcatlon for Federal-Aid Safety Iroprov~ent Funds for the
reolignment and channe1lzatlon of 23rd Street at Dewey Street,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Clty Counell of the Clty of Santa
Honica does hereby approve and authorlzes the Clty Manager to
execute the attached PrograN of Local Agency Federal-Ald Safety
INprove~ent Project in the City of Santa Monica PrograN Supplemen~
No.6,
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoptlon of thls resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be lh full force and effect.
