Introduction
This report requests that the City Council adopt a resolution
establishing an Industrial Waste Quality surcharge for the
industrial classification II Laundry-Linen General" which was
inadvertently omitted from the Sewer Rate Increase Resolution of
June la, 1986.
Background
On June 10, 1966, the City Council approved Resolution No. 7232
(CCS) increasing the sewer rate and industrial waste quality
surcharge rates. Within the body of the resolution, a value for
the industrial waste quality surcharge for Code 4 (Laundry-Linen
and General) was inadvertently omitted.
There are currently
twenty-four businesses in this category. The current industrial
waste quality surcharge is $0.051 per hundred cubic feet (748
gallons) of discharge.
The proposed new rate is $0.0765 per
hundred cubic feet of discharge.
Financial/Budget Analysis
If a new value for the laundry-linen and General classification
is approved it will result in an additional $1200 in annual

revenue to the Sewer Fund.
This $1200 was included in the
anticipated revenue described in the June 10, 1986 Staff Report.
Recommendation
staff recommends that the city council adopt the attached
resolution establishing the Industrial Waste Quality Surcharge
for Code 4 - Laundry-Linen and General at $0.0765 per hundred
cubic feet of discharge.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA ESTABLISHING AN INDUSTRIAL WASTE
QUALITY SURCHARGE FOR THE CLASSIFICATION
LAUNDRY-LINEN AND GENERAL
WHEREAS, section 7143B (C) of the Santa Honica Municipal Code
provides for the establishment of an industrial waste quality surcharge
from time to time by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 7232 (CCS) adopted June 10, 1986
established industrial waste quality surcharge rates for all existing
industrial classifications except the classification Laundry-Linen and
General due to a clerical ommission.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA l'lONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That effective July 221 1986, the industria! waste
quality surcharge for the c!assification Laundry-Linen and Genera! shall be
7.65 csents per RCF:
SECTION 2. The city C!erk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full
force and effect.
