Th1S report requests that Clty Councl1 adopt the attached
resolutlon requesting the Los Angeles County Board of Supervlsors
allocate L1A1d to Cltles" Gasollne Tax Funds In the amount of
$99,645 to the Clty of Santa Mon1ca for the purpose of performlng
certaln street malntenance work.
Background
Each year the County approprlates a portlon of Gas Tax funds to
Santa Monlca for the purpose of malntalnlng the "Select System"
streets. ThlS year the approprlatlon set by the County for Santa
Monlca 15 $99,645.
In order to rece1ve these funds from the
County, the Councll must make a formal request each year. The
staff planned 1n the 1983-84 budget to use these funds to
supplement Clty Gas Tax for resurfaclng a number of Clty Streets.
Approprlatlon authorlty for these funds will be requested at the
tlme the annual street resurfaclng contract lS awarded.

Approval of the attached resolutlon wlll result in the Clty
recelving $99)645 In "Ald to Cltles" Gas Tax Funds. The
al location 1S $11,045 hlgher than the budget estimate for Gas Tax

No. 43-90-5-000-000-090 should be lncreased by $11,045.
Recommendatlon
It 15 recommended that the Clty Councll adopt the attached
resolutlon requestlng the al1ocatlon and payment of County "Ald
to Cltles" Funds for malntenance of our select system streets,
and lncrease Revenue Account No. 43-905-000-000-090 oy $11,045.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA REQUESTING AN ALLOCATION AND
PAYMENT OF COUNTY AID TO CITIES FUNDS FOR THE
MAINTENANCE OF SELECT STREETS (C.92)
WHEREAS, the Clty Counell deSlres to expend the amount
of $99,645 of sald f~nds accrued to the City for the malntenance
of streets on the Clty'S approved Select System.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOllOWS:
SECTION 1.
The County of Los Angeles is hereby
requested to allocate $99)645 of the Ald to Citles (A.T.C.)
funds apportloned to the Clty for the maintenance of those
streets on the currently approved Select System of Streets
(excludlng State Hlghways) on flle wlth the Department of
Transportatlon. State of Callfornld. and lncorporated hereln by
reference.
SECTION 2.
After the allocation lS approved by the
Board of Supervlsors and funds are aval1able, the County lS
requested to send such al located amount to the City. The Clty
wllJ begln u51ng the funds for the street ~alntenance accoraing
to the terms of the al1ocatlon.

SECTION 3. The City Englneer shall forward a certlfied
thlS Resolutlon to the Los Angeles County Road
of
CommlSS1oner for processlng.

The Clty Clerk shall cert1fy to the
