Background Los Angeles County shares a portlon its Gas Tax allocatlons wlth the varl0US Cltles ln the County. A portlon of the sharing (approximately $100,000 annually) 15 based on per caplta allocation and 1S distnbuted as "Ald to CltlesU funds. The City of Santa Monlca has recelved these funds every year for many years. Addltlonal funds cal led "Hlghway Through CltiesU (HTC) funds are also made available from tlme to tlme on a discretTonary oaS1S. Each City must request lts Supervisor to approve and budget these funds. The funds must be used for repalr or lmprovement of the street for WhlCh It was requested. The staff recommends that Slnce Wllshlre Boulevard is the most important reglonal route ln the Clty funds be requested for addltlonal lmprovements on Wilshlre Boulevard between 21st Street and the Eastern C1ty llmlts.
