Introductlon
ThlS report descrlbes the Lltter Control Grant Program and recommends the Clty
(ouncll add $7,851 to the estimated revenues of the FY 81/82 Budget and appro-
priate that amount lnto the Budget.
j)ackground
The State Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) established a 5-year Lltter
Control Grant Program in 1979. In the flrst t~~ years of tne program, Santa
Monlca recelved $14,981. The 1981 grant award (fina11zed on June 13, 1981)
1S $7,851. The grant amounts are pre-determined by the SSWMB based on popu-
1ation and road mlleage.
The funds to date have been used for personnel to clean up 11tter 1n problem
areas of the Clty, litter clean-up equlpment and lltter receptacles.
The 1981 grant wll1 be utillzed as follows:
