Introductlon
Thi s report reconmends that the C1 ty Counci 1 appropri ate $22,000 from On - Street
Park1ng Funds to cover the cost of additional asphalt and concrete paving removals
and $4,000 from Gas Tax Funds for additlonal traffic signal and street lighting
modifications at the Pica Boulevard and Ocean Avenue intersection.
Background
On July 24, 1979, the City Counc11 awarded a contract for constructing Traffic
Islands and Landscap1ng in Ocean Avenue between Pico Boulevard and Bicknell
Avenue in the amount of $108,615. $22,000 of additional work was subsequently
required to remove an unknown concrete slab and asphalt paving found below the
street surface of Ocean Avenue near Pica. Four thousand dollars of additional
conduit placement was also required to complete the signal modificat1on at
Pica and Ocean. Previously, $81,615 from On-Street Parking Funds and $27,000
from Gas Tax Funds were encumbered.
Therefore, additiona1 appropriations of $22,000 from On-Street Parking Funds and
$4,000 from Gas Tax Funds are requested to finance th1S additional work.

This additional work was ordered performed because the project could not stand
ldle until such time as the staff could obtain Council approval. This requested
appropriation is authorizing the funding for work already performed.
Reconmendation
It is recommended that $22,000 from On -Street Parking Funds and $4,000 from
Gas Tax Funds be appropriated to complete the contract for traffic island con-
struction and signal modifications on Ocean Avenue between Pica Boulevard and
Bicknell Avenue.

SUBJECT: Supplement to Item ll-F. Parking and landscaping Plan on Ocean
Avenue between Pico Blvd. and Bicknell Avenue. Award of Contract.
Introduction
This report reconmends that the City Council award a contract for the subject
project to A.M. Construction. Inc.. the lower responsible bidder, in the
amount of $108.615.
Background
Bids for the subject project were opened in the City Council Chambers after
3:00 p.m., Monday, June 25. 1979, and read publicly by the Assistant City

Clerk. Plans and Specifications were issued to eight general contractors.

It is recommended that additional off-street parking revenue funds in the amount
