SUBJECT: Appropriation of Funds for Repair of Trash Containers
Introduction
ThlS report recommends an appropriation of $65.000 for refuse bln repairs.
BACKGROUND
On January 14,1981, Council awarded bid for repair of Refuse Department trash
blns to Container Repair Service in the amount of $65,000. Funds for this
purchase were not provided in this year1s budget. Past practice has been to
finance bin repairs out of the Refuse Bin revolving account. In previous
years, bin fee revenues were accounted for in the Trust and Agency Fund.
Revenues and Expenditures were not reported 1n the Clty'S budget. Generally
acceptable governmental accounting procedures do not permit this practlce.
Currently, bin fee revenue is belng accounted for in the Refuse Fund.
Recommendation
It lS recommended that the City's 1980-81 budget be amended to reflect an
appropriation of $65,000 for refuse bin repalrs. The appropriation is to be
financed from the City's Refuse Fund.
