SUBJECT: Santa Mon1.ca Pler, F1Sh Market Constructlon
Introduction
This report concerns proposed construct1.on work at
the flSh market on the Santa Monlca Pler, dlscusses the plans
of the new lessee, and recommends approval of the constructlon
plans of the lessee by the Clty Councll.
Background
On May 28, 1980 , Clty Councll approved the new lessees
for the flSh market on the Santa Monlca Pier, Mr. and Mrs. Klm.
As part of their lnvestment 1.n lmprovlng the premlses, t..l-tey plan
to remove an abandon restroom and prov1.de a ra1.sed platform for
patrons to Vlew the ocean and to Vlew the surf to the south, over
the cars parked on the Pler. A copy of thelr plans are attached.
On June 17th they w1.ll appear before the Landmarks Commlsslon for
approval, and on June 18th they wlll appear before the Archltectural
ReVlew Board, and an appllcat1.0n has been hIed for the Coastal
COmm1.SS10n permlt.
Recommendatlon
It lS recommended the Clty Councll approve the constructlon
on the Santa Monlca Pler as proposed by r.lr. and Mrs. Klm for the
remodellng of the flSh market.
