SUBJECT: Demolition of the Old Evening Outlook Building at
4th and Broadway - Award of Contract.
Introduction
ThlS report reco~mends award of a contract for the demolition of the struc-
ture, owned by the Parking Authority, located at the southwest corner of
4th Street and Broadway.
.Background
In preparation for the clearance of the site for the proposed downtown
shoppin~ center, the structure, located on the southwest corner of 4th
Street and Broadway, is to be demolished. The General Services Department
has prepared specifications. The Purch~slng Department sent proposals to
48 de~olition contractors. The work calls for de~olishing the entire struc-
ture wlth the exception of the base~ent ~alls and slab, which are to re~ain.
This area will be demolished and fllled at a later date. The estimated
cost for the proposed demolition is $30.000.
Bids for this work were opened at 2:30 p.m., May 17, and read publicly by
the Purchasing Agent. Thirty-six contractors pic~ed up bid documents and
seven (7) bids were received as follmls:

RecoIT;r;1endation
Staff recommends that the Parking Authority award the subject contract to
the lowest and best bidder. Alexander Land Clearing. Inc. in the a~ount
of $20.750 and adopt the attached joint resolution of the Parking Authority
and the Redevelopment Agency. Funds are available in Account No. 99-7310-460.
The Redevelopment Agency will reimburse the Parking Authority from the tax
increments ~enerated by the redevelop~ent project.

AUTHORITY TO A~ARD A CONTRACT FOR
Dml0LITION OF CERT,UN PROPERTY IN THE
REDEVELOPMENT AREA AND MAKING AN
AWARD OF THE SAME.
WHEREAS, the Parklng Authorlty owns certain real
property located at the southwest corner of the intersection of
Broadway and Fourth Streets within the Downtown Redevelopment
ProJect area, which property lS to be conveyed to the Redevelop-
ment Agency for redevelopment purposes pursuant to the Redevelop-
ment Plan for sald ProJect; and
WHEREAS, certain improvements located on said property
must be demolished as a part of the impleme~tation of said
Redevelopment ProJect; and

effect.
