SUBJECT: Request for Transfer of Funds to Complete Resurfaclng
of Pallsades Park Walkway
Introduction
This report requests (ouncll approval of the transfer of $4.000 to complete
payment on the Pallsades Park Walkway resurfacing project.
Background
In 1981-82, $15.000 was appropriated for resurfacing Palisades Park Walkway,
lnclud1ng the installation of a dra1n across the walkway. The contract was
awarded in May of 1982 for $8500. The dra1nage work was not awarded because
the bid prlces were belleved to be excessive. In June, 1982. the unexpenrled funds
were tra~sferred from the walkway proJect to another proJect - the Douglas Park
Tot Lot. After June, the Pal1sades Park project encountered unanticipated expenditures
to correct drainage oroblems 1n the walkway. Addltlonal costs were incurred for
concrete draln plpe, steel drain grates, and repalr of the walk at the foot of
Broadway to keep water from gOln9 over the bluff.
Funds are aval1ablp from the Miles Playhouse roofing proJect: WhlCh was
comoleted at a cost lower than the orlgindl approprlation. It lS requested that
these funds be transferred for the purpose of completlng the walkway
proJect.
Recommendation
Staff recommends Councll approve the transfer of 54,000 from account 53-400-511-
000-904 to account 01-800-511-000-902: to complete payment of this project.
